Another Encinal Band Success!

Congratulations to the Encinal Band and Flag Team on another huge success! They competed in the 23rd Annual “Fairfield Tournament of Champions” on Saturday, November 19th.

Despite dire weather predictions, injuries, schedule conflicts and a shortage of chaperones, they managed to bring home trophies in 4 out of the 5 categories in which they competed.

They earned 1st place in Parade, 2nd place in Auxiliary (Flag Team), 3rd place in Concert, and ... drum roll please….. 1st place in the Drum Major (Military) Open Division.

Drum Major Erin McBride not only earned her first drum major trophy this year, she did it with a whopping high score of 94! This is the second highest score in Encinal’s history of Music Competition. Great job, all of you.

Thank you to Mr. and Mrs. Lacaba for their tireless energy with cooking fresh food that fed the entire band, driving the truck and being all-around amazing.

Thank you to Linda Womack for braving the lines at Costco and providing the wonderful selection of healthy snacks that keep the students going and for your all-around help whenever it’s needed.

Thank you to Sandra Tanner for always providing assistance in every capacity, from sewing to slicing bagels to fundraising ideas.

Also, thank you to Wood School 7th grader Aaron Bill. This wonderful young man goes with the band to every performance and provides hours upon hours of help anyplace it is needed while never once complaining.

If you would like to hear the Encinal Band in action, come to our Annual Christmas Concert on Wednesday, December 7th at 7:30 p.m. in the Encinal Gymnasium.

The address is 210 Central Avenue but the entrance is at the end of Third Street on the right, just past the Swim Center. Admission is $5 per adult / $3 per student and senior age 62 and up / free to all Encinal Boosters.

We will be drawing raffle tickets during intermission for the Trader Joe’s and Massage Envy prizes. If you have not yet purchased a raffle ticket or tickets and would like to do so, please e-mail encinalmusic@yahoo.com. Ticket holders need not be present at the concert to win but we would certainly like to see you there to present your winning item in person. Thank you.

Props to the Encinal Marching Band and the wonderful parents who take care of the masses so that music magic can happen. Thank you for including the video! I want to buy raffle tickets. Someone should come by the College & Career Center next week ;-)
