Planning Board to Review Target Store Design

Design review of the Target building, signage and landscaping at the Alameda Landing retail development are on tonight Planning Board agenda.

Construction planning could start immediately for a new Target store on the West End if the Alameda Planning Board approves the project's design tonight.

Catellus Alameda Development, LLC, is asking the board to approve designs for landscaping of the proposed 23-acre Alameda Landing retail center at Alameda Point and for the building that would house the center's anchor tenant, Target.

City of Alameda planning department staff are recommending approval of the plans with some slight modifications.

Design plans for other buildings in the center and for an adjacent residential development are expected to follow in the next few months.

Also on tonight's agenda: a prioritized list of transportation projects for the city and election of a new president and vice president of the board.

The board will meet at 7 p.m. in the City Hall council chambers, 2263 Santa Clara Ave.

The meeting agenda and related staff reports, including a detailed look at the Target building and Alameda Landing landscaping, are available on the City of Alameda website.
