Updated: Alameda Man Killed in Oakland Hills Bike Accident

The cyclist has been identified by the coroner as 53-year-old Alan Douglas Lee of Alameda.

A 53-year-old Alameda man riding his bicycle in the Oakland Hills was killed Saturday morning in a collision with a vehicle, an Alameda County Coroner's Office spokesman said. 

The spokesman said the cyclist had been riding with a group of about 15 cyclists. He was identified early Monday morning as Alan Douglas Lee.

Police responded to Claremont Avenue and Grizzly Peak Boulevard at about 11:30 a.m. Lee was pronounced dead at the scene, Oakland police said.

According to an Oakland Tribune report, Lee lost control of his bike while going downhill and crashed into the path of oncoming traffic. 

The San Francisco Chronicle is reporting that the driver of the car was a 39-year-old man from Pleasant Hill.

Oakland Fire personnel, East Bay Regional Park District police and the California Highway Patrol also responded to the scene.

The road was closed for several hours, police said.
