How Should I Celebrate Presidents Day in Alameda?

Please offer suggestions for a visitor

What's the best way to celebrate Presidents Day in Alameda? Often this time of year, the weather doesn't allow the full range of possibilities. You can shop or bowl.

But tomorrow the sun is supposed to shine at least intermittantly, so anything is possible. I'm looking forward to a unique Alameda experience. What do you suggest?

I like bicycling along the shoreline and have spent many happy days at Crab Cove.

But talk of U.S. presidents makes me think of the U.S. government, and the U.S.S. Hornet, a World War II aircraft carrier turned museum, is perhaps the most obvious respresentative of the government on the island. So perhaps a visit  there?

Here's what we have on our calendar:

9:00am–4:00pm , 1617 Encinal Ave.

There are also a number of weekly events that take place every Monday in Alameda. But I have a feeling there's a lot more going on than that.

What are you planning? And where would you take a visitor?
