Tattoo Studio Owner Withdraws Permit Application

The owner of the successful, Fremont-based Inkies Tattoo Studio says the time is not right to come to Alameda

After a , Facebook, as well as communications he says he received by text and email, a tattoo business owner says he's pulling his permit application to open in Alameda.

Inkies Tattoo Studio owner Robert Arquero says he didn't anticipate the personal attacks and negativity when he applied for a permit to open a second site for his popular, Fremont-based tattoo business on Alameda's Webster Street.

"It's gotten too negative. It's not what I expected. Personal attacks — I don't take those lightly," he said. "I do think I might want to approach it again, I just don't know when."

Objections posted online about the business coming included the proposed store's proximity to two other tattoo businesses as well as objections to tattooing in general. 

"I don't want the public to think I am the sort person who just ran away," Arquero said. "My beliefs tell me to put everything in God's hands. And it's all in God's timing whether or not I open up another studio."

Arquero said he'll concentrate on his Fremont business for now. 

"I am blessed to have what I have now. No loss on my end at all," he said.
