Shay's Cafe to Close But Will Continue Catering

After four years, Wendy Shay will be closing her Encinal cafe known for serving but will continue cater

Friday, Nov. 30 will be the last day for fans to get their Shay's Cafe fix before the restaurant closes for good.

After four years of serving freshly-made soups, sandwiches and salads, owner Wendy Shay said she will shift her focus solely on her catering businesses, Herbs & Spices Catering, located right next door to the cafe.

Located at 2711 Encinal Ave., the cafe has not received the high foot traffic Shay had hoped for.

"We had steady business but it never increased because of the location," she said.

Shay added that if the right location were to open up, she would definitely consider reopening.

For now, folks can still order food from Herbs & Spices which does corporate catering for big events such as weddings, office parties and other occasions. Party platters can also be ordered.

"We thank all our customers for their loyal support," Shay said.
