California Proposition 29 - a Tobacco Tax for Cancer Research

I strongly encourage everyone to vote Yes for proposition 29 which appears on the June 5th ballot.

If you care about trying to improve people's health and stopping the huge drain cigarettes place on our economy, you should vote for it. If a $1 tax on a pack of cigarettes discourages a kid from starting smoking and helps provide a cure for cancer, how can this be a bad thing?

If you just look at the list of opponents (big tobacco) who are contributing funds to opposing the vote, you should be convinced that this is a good thing.
