Noise from Oakland Coliseum
City of Alameda responds to weekend noise at the Oakland Coliseum.
Dear Alameda Resident:
Last Saturday night, and into early Sunday, many Alameda residents were
subjected to excessive noise emanating from the Oakland Coliseum, where there
was a permitted outdoor event.
Mayor Marie Gilmore and City Manager John Russo have been on the phone to officials from Oakland, Alameda County and the Coliseum to express Alameda’s displeasure with the unacceptable and unusual level of noise coming from the Coliseum this weekend.

The City of Oakland has issued a formal, public apology for the event. We accept the apology but we must insure that there will be no repeat of Saturday night’s shenanigans.
Mayor Gilmore is working with Alameda’s representative on the County Board of Supervisors, Wilma Chan, to seek an agreement from Oakland and the Coliseum that the Coliseum’s events end at midnight, and that outdoor events require specific rules for noise control which, at a minimum, comply with Oakland’s own noise ordinance.

We will post the result of our efforts on the City of Alameda’s webpage.
