Alameda 6th-grader Performs at Carnegie Hall

Alameda’s own cello prodigy, Isabelle Brown-Lyden, performed the Prelude from Cello Suite No.1 in G Major by J.S. Bach at Carnegie Hall on March 25th, 2014.  Isabelle recently won second place in the American Protégé Competition for Piano and Strings.

This was Isabelle’s second performance at Carnegie Hall, and her third performance in New York City.  Her favorite activities in New York include visiting Dylan’s Candy Bar and petting puppies at the American Kennel Store.

In addition, Isabelle has performed as an honors soloist at the Colorado Suzuki Institute and the Stanford Suzuki Institute, and in benefit concerts throughout the Bay Area since she was five years old.

Isabelle also plays jazz and fiddle music with an all girl group called the Flaming Strings.  She studies weekly with teacher Andy Luchansky, and daily with her cello-playing mom, Marcie Brown.

When not practicing cello, Isabelle can be found at the Oakland Ice Arena, working out routines for upcoming skating competitions, or at the Alameda Community Learning Center (ACLC), where she attends 6th grade.  She also enjoys spending time at the beach with her golden-doodle, Biscuit.
