Alameda Patch Editor Stops by Forbidden Island

I don't get out to each of my Patch cities as often as I would like but this weekend I took some time to visit a couple of them, including one Alameda mainstay.

Last night we checked out the "Forbidden Island Tiki Lounge" in Alameda as they were hosting a "Love Boat" night.

I have been told by locals that the lounge has been well-known in Alameda for many years and judging by the full house last night, it is pretty popular.

Much of crowd was dressed full 70s and early 80s costumes ranging from the "Charo" look to Captain Stubing and harkened back to the time in my childhood when woman smelled of Jean Naté and wore lipgloss as thick as frosting while men sporting striped knee-high socks were cool.

The establishment has a seriously fun vibe and according to their website, many of the spirits they sell are directly from Alameda.

Have you ever been to the Forbidden Island Tiki Lounge?
