Altarena Actress Stars in World-Premiere Musical

Local singer-actress, and Altarena Playhouse favorite, Caroline Schneider (“The Odd Couple” and “Sideshow”) joins a cast of top Bay Area talent to debut a new musical for the entire family: “Jack and the Beanstalk (and the Giant, and the Goose, and the Really Truly-Uly Rotten Day)”.

Presented by East Bay Children’s Theatre, this all-new version of the classic tale will delight children and adults alike with its upbeat attitude, clever comedy, and Broadway-style songs.  The wacky cast of characters includes the troubled title character, an overworked and underpaid Golden Goose, and a diminutive Giant with an enormous Napoleon complex!

EBCT, the San Francisco Bay Areas oldest continuously-operating theatre company brings musical theatre to under-served elementary school children free of charge.  And they’ve been doing it for over eighty years.

In addition to the school tours, which run February and March, the company will also present two performances which will be open to the public: March 23 (2:00 pm) at The Jewish Community Center of the East Bay in Berkeley, and March 30th (2:00 pm) at Town Hall Theatre in Lafayette.  All tickets are $12.00 and may be purchased online at: www.EBCTonline.org .  Advance purchases are recommended, as sellouts are expected.

With a sparkling new script and score by award-winning writer-composer Ron Lytle (another Altarena favorite, who penned the hits “Oh My Godmother!” and “The Man Who Saved Christmas”, among many others), and direction by Sue Ellen Nelsen (whose many honors include directing the San Francisco Chronicle’s #1 Show of the Year), “Jack and the Beanstalk (and the Giant, and the Goose, and the Really Truly-Uly Rotten Day)” promises to be must-see entertainment for the entire family!
