has recognized staff for outstanding efforts to reduce costs and promote energy efficiency and has included AUSD among its 2011 “Green Powerstars” winners.
Alameda Municipal Power specifically identified AUSD’s Maintenance Operations & Facilities Coordinator Kristie Ojigho and HVAC Technician Pete Cervantes for their work, noting that under the administration of Superintendent Vital, AUSD has implemented their recommendations for monitoring and controlling space-conditioning equipment and costs, resulting in a safer environment and conditions much more conducive to learning and teaching.
Public Utilities Board President Gregory Hamm congratulated the winners: “Alameda’s GreenPower stars are taking the lead in providing innovative energy-saving technologies and strategies. They’re certainly to be commended for these exemplary energy-efficiency efforts.”
The awards were presented to the winners at Alameda’s Earth Day Festival held Saturday, April 16, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Washington Park, at Eighth Street and Central Avenue.
The winners and their accomplishments also will be profiled in video postings on the AMP website.
Alameda Municipal Power expects the “Green Powerstars” awards to become an annual tradition in Alameda.
