McGees Blazers 16, East Ocean Seafood Gold Rush 14, December 15
In the fourth grade boys division, the Blazers gained an early season victory over the Gold Rush on December 15 at the Alameda Boys and Girls Club. Dylan Manabat led the Blazers scoring, hitting from long range and on the fast break. Smothering defense from Bobby Goodman and Jorge Rosales held the Gold Rush in check until a late game scoring surge brought them within two points with 14 seconds left in the game. The win brings the Blazer’s record to 1-1.
Wind River Red Dragon 44, Maria Croft Design Gold Rush 41
In the sixth grade boys division, the Wind River Red Dragons squared off against the Maria Croft Design Gold Rush at Alameda High School on December 16. In a hard fought match, the Dragons prevailed behind the outside shooting of Spenser Kao and the inside moves of Curt Landers Jr., assisted by key buckets from Joe Gibbons and John Conover. Liam Rooney‘s defensive play kept the Gold Rush off balance to secure the win.
