Alameda flower planting to honor Newtown, CT children and teachers
Christmas Day from 1 - 3 p.m. at Lincoln Park next to the rose garden near High Street.
Bring a spade, gloves, kids, friends, etc.
To honor the innocent lives lost, and the heroes amongst them that lived. Join a couple of Alameda moms on Christmas Day from 1 to 3 p.m. to plant tulip flowers at Lincoln Park. In doing so, we can let the Newtown community know that there is a small community in the Bay Area thinking of them.
The Alameda Parks Department has generously donated staff time, flowers, soil, and name plates for the names of those who lost their lives at Sandy Hook Elementary School.
Christmas Day focuses so much on children and family. We'd like to use part of this day to think of the families and who will be without their children, and also to reflect on the precious time with our own children and families.
This will be a casual gathering. Feel free to come and plant, or just come in support to be with your community.
