Alameda Theatre Replica Made of Gingerbread

You can go see the Alameda Theatre crafted from gingerbread on your next visit to the movie theatre.

Last year Donna Eyestone and daughter Emma made the Alameda Free Library in gingerbread, and it was such a hit that they decided to venture forth with additional Alameda landmark structures.

This year they made the Alameda Theater, and then Eyestone contacted the Theatre manager and got the go-ahead to display it in the theatre's lobby.

"We thought about what was important to make it recognizable as the theatre. The marquee and the historic front were top on the list," said Eyestone. "We also thought about having a movie showing on an iPhone, but weren't sure we could secure it in the structure. So Emma painted a picture which is visible inside. If you bring your children, they'll be sure to notice the lights under the overhang, and Santa with his reindeer just heading out to another delivery."

The gingerbread theatre will be on display at in the lobby of the Alameda Theatre until the day before Christmas, when Eyestone will take it home to display on her own table for Christmas dinner.
