Julius Caesar at The Academy of Alameda

The Academy of Alameda Middle School presents Julius Caesar.   This marks the fourth year in a row that the Academy has produced a play by William Shakespeare.  As in the past, the play is adapted and directed by Kathleen Seabolt.  Seabolt, a parent of an Academy alum, was a Shakespeare scholar at Chapman University and has done research at the Folger Shakespeare Library in Washington DC.  She continues to bring her love of Shakespeare to the students of West Alameda.  In addition to directing middle schoolers, Seabolt has also been instrumental in the formation of a Shakespeare Club at Encinal High School and the Alameda Citywide Shakespeare Monologue Competition held in February.

The twenty 6th through 8th grade student actors in Julius Caesar, have been rehearsing after school every day for the past 2 weeks to learn the unfamiliar language of Shakespeare.  Their hard work will all come together in a performance for their classmates on Wednesday morning.  Then, on Thursday evening they'll take the stage for their friends, family and the general public.

The Thursday performance is free of charge and is suitable entertainment for the entire family.  Food and drink will be sold and all proceeds and donations will benefit the continuation of this Shakespeare project at the Academy.  Doors will open at 6:30PM. 410 Pacific Avenue, Alameda
