New Year’s Eve Gala onboard The USS Hornet Museum

Ring in 2014 onboard the historic World War II aircraft-carrier-turned-museum USS Hornet. The celebration begins at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 31 offering live music, a silent auction, cash bars and food concessions. Count down to midnight with the spectacular view of the Bay Area skyline or head to the Flight Deck and watch San Francisco fireworks, weather-permitting.

The night kicks off with the Swingin’ Blue Stars performing “A Tribute to the Andrews Sisters.” Then be prepared to dance the night away to the sounds of 3 O’Clock Jump — a 17-piece band made up of some of the best swing and jazz musicians from the Bay Area. Their unique musical style blends the classic Big Band songs of the WWII era with Rhumba, Cha Cha Cha, and Waltz.

And if you are a bit rusty, never fear, free dance lessons will be provided throughout the evening by Jim Truesdale, a former Fred Astaire instructor.

The silent auction will tempt everyone with great items including hotel packages, gift certificates to Bay Area restaurants, wine, tickets to sporting events, museum experiences, fine jewelry and more. Proceeds from the silent auction benefit the USS Hornet Museum.

From swing to rock, the USS Hornet Museum is the Bay Area’s best place to dance with three large dance floors on the enclosed, heated hangar deck. Tickets for the New Year’s party range from $45 to $85 per person and include free parking. Food and drink are not included but will be available for purchase.
