7th Annual Exhibition of California Artists at Alameda Museum

A group exhibit of 21 California artists will be held by the Island Alliance of the Arts Committee at the Alameda Museum Gallery, 2324 Alameda Avenue, from July 6 through 27.

Works of emerging and established artists will be presented at the Alameda Museum throughout July.

A group exhibit of 21 California artists will be held by the Island Alliance of the Arts Committee at the Alameda Museum Gallery, 2324 Alameda Avenue, from July 6 through 27.

Hosted by Island Alliance of the Arts, a nonprofit organization based in Alameda, Cross Currents 7th Annual Exhibition of California Artists suggests the power of creative forces converging and also calls to mind the Alameda island location.

Twenty-one California artists have reached beyond traditional borders and boundaries to interpret the many meanings of the title in their own unique styles and media and let their creativity be the currents.

The Opening Reception will be held July 13 from 1-3 p.m. It will include refreshments, music, and opportunities to both talk with the exhibiting artists and bid on silent auction art.

The Closing Reception and Artist Talks will be held July 27 from 12-2 p.m. Four IAA committee member artists will talk about their work, their process of creation, and their involvement in IAA.

In addition to art by 21 California artists, there will be a silent auction of work by the Island Alliance of the Arts Committee. Funds raised by the auction sales are used to develop future exhibits and provide support and workshops for artists.

The silent auction art will feature works by Bonnie Randall Boller, Mi’Chelle Fredrick, Teddy Goldsworthy-hanner, Charles Lucke, and Peter Sanderson and will include clay monotype, coffee table art books, photography, poetry, and spirit masks. Additional IAA committee members include Melissa Harmon and Colene Leong.

The 21 selected artists are: Karen Allen,  Barbara Buhrz, Laurie Gardner, Brian Grus, Miriam Infinger, Ines Kramer, Michael McDonough, Glenna Mills, Ana Music-Anderson, Jane Neilson, Cyrus Ng, John Nicolini, Laurel Prieto, Sara Richardson, Cherylene Robinson, Kathleen Schwab, Ralph Smith, Joan Tharp, Nicole Wakeman, Jan Wall, Justin Yanke.

The museum hours are Wednesday-Friday and Sunday, 1:30- 4 p.m. and Saturday 11 a.m. - 4 p.m. You can call 510 521-1233 for more information.
