Alameda High Alum Randy Pope Sworn In as Oakley Mayor

Pope grew up in Alameda and has three brothers who still live here with their families.

Randy Pope, a 1990 graduate of Alameda High School, was sworn in this week as the new mayor of Oakley, a city of about 35,000 people in eastern Contra Costa County.

Pope previously served as Oakley's vice mayor.

"I was raised in Alameda in my parents' house adjacent to Lincoln Park," Pope said in an email. "I have three brothers that still live in Alameda with their families."

He attended Edison Elementary, Lincoln Middle and Alameda High Schools.

Pope is a sergeant with the Oakland Police Department, where he is a 20-year veteran.
