Alameda resident Bonnie Joy’s Nut Crusted Chicken with Roasted Beet Medallions, Beet Greens Gremolata and Arugula Salad recipe has beat out more than 1,000 other West Coast chicken recipes in the Foster Farms Fresh Chicken Cooking Contest, according to a press release from Foster Farms.
The release says, "Cooking runs in the family. While Bonnie has mastered many recipes, she still aspires to perfect her mom’s roasted chicken with rice and corn dish. Her grandmother was a recipe contest enthusiast, who once won a trip to Hawaii and even landed on the cover of Gourmet magazine. Inspired by her family, Bonnie picked up the torch and began to enter cooking contests to support her education."
Lee will be competing against other California contestants Friday in San Diego for a chance to advance to the contest finals in Napa Valley and compete for the grand prize of $10,000 and a year’s supply of fresh Foster Farms chicken. Two winners from California will move on to the finals.
