Survey Reveals Local Boy Scout Community Opposes Gay Ban

On May 23, the Boys Scouts of America is set to consider a policy change that would allow gay youths to participate in Scouting but would continue to ban openly gay adults, according to The Alamedan.

A recent survey by Boy Scouts of America reveals that more than three-quarters of the adults involved in Boy Scouts of Alameda oppose their national organization’s policy of banning gay Scout leaders and members.

In addition, the parents of the organization’s youngest participants make up the highest percentage of those who are against this policy.

On May 23, the Boys Scouts of America is set to consider a policy change that would allow gay youths to participate in Scouting but would continue to ban openly gay adults, according to The Alamedan.

The Alameda Council will be holding a meeting tonight where the local Scouting community can voice its opinions on whether local representatives should vote in favor of the change, The Alamedan reports.
