The Board of Directors of Alameda Boys & Girls Club (ABGC), a non-profit that provides programs and services to children and youth, Thursday announced they have appointed Jeff Miller as their new executive director and chief professional officer beginning November 5, 2012.
Miller will be introduced to the community on Nov. 3, 2012 at the 100 Best Communities for Young People Open House and Awards Ceremony being held at the Alameda Boys & Girls Club Youth Development Center. He replaces George Phillips, who retired the end of June, 2012 after 14 years of service. Diane Cunningham Rizzo, who has been serving as interim executive director, will resume her position as assistant executive director of development and community relations.
Miller, who has spent the last 25 years in the non-profit sector, was most recently the senior vice president of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Scottsdale, in Scottsdale, Arizona. He also served as senior vice president and chief administrative officer of Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater San Diego, CA and president and chief executive officer of Boys & Girls Club of Ramona, in Ramona. CA.
“We are extremely excited to welcome Jeff to the Club,” said Burny Matthews, president of the board of directors. “As a former Club member, he brings a knowledge and passion to the position. As a successful executive, he brings the kind of experience and expertise we need to lead our organization into the future.”
Miller said, “I am humbled and honored to have the opportunity to lead an organization that has positively impacted the lives of Alameda youth for 63 years. As an alumnus of Boys & Girls Clubs, I know first-hand the difference this organization makes on its members. I look forward to meeting and working with the wonderful people of Alameda.
