Girl's Inc. STEM Graduates Prepare for the Future

Alameda Patch would like to congratulate the 15 young women from the Girl's Inc. of the Island City who recently graduated from its three-year science, technology, engineering and mathematics Eureka! program.

The girls were highlighted last week by the Alameda Sun, as they completed their program and a four-week paid summer internship, which had them job-shadowing women in their prospective future careers.

Eureka! offers young women hands-on experience and supports their college and future goals in the STEM industry. It also introduces the girls to new friends, instills confidence and showcases the extensive roles women can play in society.

Girl's Inc. of the Island City also welcomed 20 new participants, all entering the eighth and ninth grades, into the program. The new class will begin with four weeks of classes at the College of Alameda, where they will take self-defense, yoga, math and science courses.
