FedEx Plane Needs Tow After Landing at Oakland Airport

By Bay City News Service

A FedEx plane with a hydraulic problem landed safely at Oakland International Airport early this morning (Wednesday) but had to be towed off the runway, an airport spokesman said.

The aircraft departed from Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport at about 1 a.m. PST bound for Oakland, and the pilots became aware of the problem after takeoff, Oakland airport spokesman Brian Kidd said.

"The crew knew they had an issue but they continued the flight," he said. The plane landed safely in Oakland at about 4:30 a.m. but did not have the power to navigate off the runway, Kidd said.

"We had to tow them off the runway," he said.

No one was injured and no other flights were delayed by the incident, Kidd said.

Kidd said Oakland International Airport is the West Coast hub for FedEx air operations.
