Supervisor Wilma Chan Volunteers at Alameda Food Bank

Chan, accompanied by staff members and supporters, packed food boxes and sorted donations.

Alameda County Supervisor Wilma Chan and a dozen of her staff members and supporters volunteered at the Alameda Food Bank last week, according to Troy Gilbert the food bank's executive director.

Chan and her crew worked for several hours Dec. 12 parking food boxes and sorting barrel donations that had come in from all over Alameda during the previous two weeks, Gilbert said.

The non-profit food bank, which provides nutritious food to low-income Alameda residents, has more than 150 regular volunteers, he said.

"I commend the role of the Alameda Food Bank and am proud to have joined its ranks of local volunteers to address hunger in our community,” Chan said.
