Wet weather wasn't enough to stop skaters from hitting the new ice rink at Alameda's South Shore Center on Friday afternoon.
Beginners and experts of all ages enjoyed gliding on The Little Ice Rink in their bright orange skates. For those who needed some extra support, matching orange "Bobby the Seals" could be rented to help balance on the ice.
Future guest appearances by local dignitaries and skating celebrities are expected, including Olympic gold medalist Brian Boitano.
The rink is open seven days a week, Monday through Thursday, from 3 p.m. to 10 p.m., and Friday, Saturday and Sunday, from 12 p.m. to 10 p.m.
Check out the Patch Clip above to see what skaters thought of opening day. Did you test it out yourself? What was your skating experience like on The Little Ice Rink? What do you think of its new location?
