Alameda’s Dance/10 Goes to Summer Olympics

The non-profit group is holding a fundraiser April 14 to raise money for the trip

Members of the Alameda-based non-profit Dance/10 – the group that presents the Tap Dancing Christmas Trees at the city's annual tree lighting ceremony – will represent the Island in London and Paris during the 2012 London Summer Olympics as part of the American Alliance for Performing Arts Educators.

To raise funds for the trip to the Summer Olympics, Dance/10 will present “A Night in Morocco” at on the Ballena Bay waterfront on Saturday, April 14. For $35, diners may feast on authentic Moroccan cuisine and enjoy dance and vocal performances by members of the Dance/10 Performing Arts Center.

At the Olympics, the Alameda dancers will perform at three venues: a world stage during a festival at Warwick Castle, a downtown London-Thames River venue and Disneyland Paris.

Performers in the group range in age from 17 to over 70 years old.
