Christmas Tree Lane is all lit up!

Every year for over 70 years the 55 homes that make up the 3200 block of Thompson Avenue between High Street and Fernside Boulevard work together to transform their street into a magical holiday showplace by decorating their own homes and working together to decorate the center islands. During the two weeks before Christmas, local residents entertain visiting children as Santa Claus, attended by a group of Elves who distribute candy canes to the children. There is also a special mailbox where letters can be dropped off for Santa. All letters with a legible return address are answered and returned to the children that left them in Santa's Mailbox.

This holiday tradition is a co-operative neighborhood supported effort. No money from the City of Alameda is spent to bring you this special Wonderland. The residents pay for their own displays and share the cost of the center divider decorations. Alameda Municipal Power helps out by their generous donation of some of the labor costs to install and remove the center lights. This contribution covers approximately half the cost for the center lighting.
