The Hot Club of San Francisco CD Release Party Featuring vocalist Isabelle Fontaine

For their 13th CD release, the venerable Hot Club of San Francisco (HCSF) once again boldly goes where no other gypsy jazz band has gone before by building the entire show (recorded live at Yoshi's Jazz Club in San Francisco) around their fantastic chanteuse Isabelle Fontaine. Ms Fontaine, no stranger to the Hot Club SF, is usually one of the two essential rhythm guitarists but for this outing she steps up to the microphone to front the band.  Jeff Magidson holds down the rhythm chair with longtime bassist/multi-instrumentalist, Clint Baker who also shines on trumpet and trombone. Responding to the numerous requests for "more" whenever she sings with the HCSF, the concept of an all-vocal CD was an obvious move for the instrumental ensemble in their 22nd year of bringing gypsy swing back to the country where jazz was born.

Violinist extraordinaire Evan Price presents effortless inventions, sparkling wit and gorgeous tone while leader Paul Mehling's solo guitar blazes through the tunes with an urgency of man leading his company through a tornado of thrills, mystery, romance and sheer fun.  The repertoire is a collector's selection of must-haves and little-known gems: each highlighting yet another facet of the multi-talented and multi-lingual Fontaine. She can SWING with the best of ‘em, sing like all of your favorites and share enough of herself in the 12 tunes featured from their CD to have you yearning for more.
