Saluting Education with the AEF

AEF President Bill Sonneman shares his experiences at annual event honoring Alameda public schools

We had a crowd of about 400 celebrate Salute to Education with us on Friday, April 13, at Rock Wall Winery. In a relaxed, festive atmosphere we learned about  innovative programs that Alameda public schools have developed, such as a high school “Restorative Justice” program, an intervention “MathTech” program for elementary school students, an anti-bullying middle school program and a “Learning Garden.”

In addition, we honored volunteers from each school who give so tirelessly on behalf of our children.  AEF presented its annual Tricia Collins-Levy Business Award to Kirk Cowan of the Harbor Bay Club.   Of course, we also celebrated 30 years of AEF! All this to the accompaniment of fabulous jazz music from our incredibly talented high school musicians.

This is an annual tradition, so we hope you will join us next year!
