Alameda Business Spotlight: Malay Asian Express

New fast-food restaurant brings taste of Malaysia to the Island.

Manager: Fritz Patena

How many locations are there? Our first restaurant is in Fremont. Alameda is our second location.

What do you serve? Malaysian cuisine is a mixture of Indonesian, Indian, Malay and Singaporean food. Malaysia is in the middle of these countries. We serve typical Malaysian dishes such as chicken rendang. All the spices in the rendang come from Malaysia so the flavor is very strong. You cannot find the blends here. We prepare everything fresh daily.

Our owner, Ananda Rajah, is very concerned about the quality of the food. He doesn’t want any MSG or preservatives in the food. Our meat is halal.

Is there a particular dish you recommend? I like the honey chicken.
