Coffee Pilgrimage Leads to the Big Screen

The owner of Catracha Coffee, Mayra Orellana-Powell of Alameda, is the subject of a documentary funded by Kickstarter donations. Try the Honduran coffee at a Cafe Q cupping event on Saturday.

The locally owned Catracha Coffee Company is stirring up excitement, with plans brewing for a documentary on its efforts to bring Honduran coffee stateside, as well as a tasting event to be hosted at Cafe Q.

"The Way Back to Yarasquin" will be funded Kickstarter donations and follows Mayra Orellana-Powell on her coffee pilgrimage from rural Honduras to the East Bay. Orellana-Powell is an Alameda resident .

The bright-tasting coffee with undertones of chocolate and fruit is available for purchase on the Catracha Coffee Company webside and sold at Whole Foods through Roast Coffee Company.
