Du Vin Fine Wines Changes Name, Adds Artisan Beers

The popular shop will soon be known as Craft Beer & Wine.

Du Vin Fine Wines at 2526 Santa Clara Ave. is gaining a new owner, a new name and a large selection of craft beers in addition to an expanded wine selection.

The long-time owner, Dan Marshall, will be staying on to oversee the wine end of the business, new owner Russell Rasmussen said in an email.

"I will be the beer guy and Dan will be the wine guy," Rasmussen said. "We plan to offer over 200 beers and over 300 wines. Right now we have 90 beers and 200 wines."

Rasmussen said the shop will be remodeled in January, making room for a long beer cooler and new wine racks. The shop remains open meanwhile.

"We also plan to apply for an 'instructional tasting license' which will allow us to offer tastes of wine and/or beer on a weekly basis," he said.

The remodeled shop will be known as Craft Beer & Wine, he said.

Under Marshall's ownership, Du Vin Fine Wines has repeatedly been voted the Island's best wine shop by readers of Alameda magazine.

Rasmussen, an Alameda High School graduate, described himself a a former insurance executive and long-time craft beer enthusiast.
