East Bay History for Sale, As Former Alameda Resident's Memorabilia Is Auctioned
Items collected over decades include old maps and photos of the East Bay, a framed letter by Oakland poet Joaquin Miller.
You could buy a piece of the past this weekend, as East Bay memorabilia from the collection of the late Jeff Sahadi — a former Alameda resident and Alameda High School graduate, and a long-time Piedmont Avenue jewelry designer — goes up for auction, according to an article on insidebayarea.com.
Sahadi, 62, who lived in the Oakland hills, died Oct. 9, the article says.
The collection focuses on Oakland and nearby communities. It has photos from the late 19th and early 20th centuries, old maps — including one that shows alameda and Oakland before dredging separated the two cities — and even a framed letter written by Oakland poet Joaquin Miller, the article says.
The auction is scheduled for Saturday and Sunday at the Clars Auction Gallery, 5644 Telegraph Ave., Oakland. You can check out a copy of the auction catalogue on the gallery's website.
