The Alameda Landing Project received a huge boost this week during the annual International Council of Shopping Centers Conference in Las Vegas.

Mayor Marie Gilmore and City Manager John Russo met with many well-known retailers and restaurants during the conference that have expressed interest in Alameda.

Target is slated to open in October, 2013 and construction is well underway.  Meanwhile, Catellus, working with Mayor Marie Gilmore, secured the following tenants for the Alameda Landing retail shopping center.

Corner Bakery signed a Letter of Intent for approximately 3,800 square feet.  Founded on a philosophy of creating a place for people to relax and gather with family and friends, Corner Baker Café features innovative, seasonal menu options while delivering a premier bakery café experience in the heart of neighborhoods everywhere.

“We feel that this will be a phenomenal success with the community of Alameda," said Aaron Dan, one of the brokers representing Corner Bakery." Corner Bakery Café is very community oriented and we are excited about being involved with Alameda.”

Michaels, represented by Rick Greene, stated they have corporate real estate approval and look forward to opening in the second quarter of 2014.

As one of the largest retailers in the project, they are excited about building their new store prototype that includes a classroom for arts and crafts.

Safeway, represented by Steve Berndt, announced that they have an approved deal for a new store prototype with more windows and light.  He is “fired up about the project,” which will bring the outside into the store, creating a more pleasing grocery shopping experience.

Sleep Train has signed a Letter of Intent, joining the line-up of retailers scheduled to open in 2014. The employee-owned company meets the City’s objectives for tenants that will generate additional sales tax revenues while providing more shopping opportunities for its residents.

The Habit Burger Grill, known for its char-grilled burgers and sandwiches, will provide family style dining that is great for kids and adults. With very few restaurants located in the Bay Area, they are excited about Alameda and will open in 2014.

Delivering on its promise to provide new and exciting retail at Alameda Landing, Catellus expects to announce several more retail tenants soon.
