Monday is national free Slurpee day at 7-Elevens, in celebration of the chain's birthday.
There are two 7-Elevens in Alameda, one at 2301 Lincoln Ave. and the other at 639 Buena Vista Ave. Clerks at both stores said their locations were participating in the giveaway.

Each customer receives one 7.11-ounce Slurpee at no cost. A total of 5 million drinks are expected to be given away in all, according to 7-Eleven.
