Food Trucks Head to Alameda: Saturday's Menu

Opening day of the food-truck-tastic event in Alameda includes a visit from the meat militia, Indian street food, pigs with fins, and plenty of culinary puns. Check the line-up of participating vendors below.

The food-truck festival Off the Grid is finally driving off the mainland and onto the Island.

The "soft launch" of Off the Grid Alameda takes place Saturday, June 2 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at , with a host of culinary carts to tickle the tastebuds in every direction.

Off the Grid hosts food truck markets around the Bay Area, with weekly events in San Francisco and Berkeley — and now Alameda.

South Shore Shopping Center is one of five areas designated  in an ordinance adopted in February. The Off the Grid food truck market will be co-sponsored by Jamestown, the shopping center's property owner.

In addition to the tasty treats, there will also be non-amplified music and places to take a seat and enjoy the sensory stimulation.

Free parking is provided in the Alameda South Shore Center lot.
