Poll: Best Mother's Day Brunch in Alameda?

Vote for your favorite in this week's Readers' Choice 2012 poll

Taking your mom out for brunch is a Mother's Day tradition. In this week's Readers' Choice 2012 poll, we're asking you to vote for the best mom-friendly brunch in Alameda. (And in case you're not sure — Mother's Day this year is on Sunday, May 13.)

Vote for your favorite in the poll at the end of this article. Click on the links below and rate the business on its Patch Place listing. You can even leave a review.

1400 Bar & Grill

C'era Una Volta

Jim's on the Course

La Penca Azul

Pier 29

The Little House Cafe

The nominees this week are mostly drawn from suggestions by Alameda Patch's Facebook page viewers. We know we've left out some favorites — Alameda is full of great places to eat, and we couldn't include them all.

So if we left out your favorite, start a write-in a campaign in the comments section below. (Alameda spots only, please.) A write-in could win! In the event of a tie, we will break it based on the comments, so please explain your choice.

And if you're heading out of town for Mother's Day, readers suggested a couple of off-Island favorites: Brix in Napa and Brown Sugar Kitchen in Oakland.

One reader even emailed us a Mother's Day "dream brunch" menu — Peet's coffee with beignets, followed by mango juice, heart-shaped pancakes topped with light maple syrup, bacon, apple-chicken sausages and an assortment of berries topped with whipped cream. A tad heavy on the cholesterol, perhaps, but hey, Mother's Day only comes around once a year!

Because our poll is not scientific, it is not the sole consideration in choosing a winner. The winner will be determined by the Patch editor, based on poll results, comments and reviews on Patch Places. Please vote only once per survey, per Patch.

The poll closes at 9 a.m. Friday. Come back later that afternoon for the results.

If you want to suggest a topic or candidates for future "best" contests, post it in the comments below, and don't forget to vote.

Hob Nob...far and away the best brunch in town. I always chuckle at the line of people waiting to get into Ole's for a mediocre brunch when Penca Azul and Hob Nob are a short walk away.

My choice is La Pinata, but only for their breakfast eggs. The dinner menu, at least to this palate, is not any better than that found at the dozens of "Mexican" eateries found in the City of Alameda. Of course, it should be added that La Pinata is oozing with a great atmosphere, with the display of thousands of variously shaped bottles in the dining room, and with the amusing off-perspective paintings found in the interior dining room, and also found in the outside patio.
