The City of Alameda, in partnership with the Housing Authority of the City of Alameda, is sponsoring a “Don’t Miss the Bull’s Eye” Job Readiness training in anticipation of the new Target Store’s mass hiring event in August.

The Alameda Landing Target store will open in October of this year.

An experienced Retail Executive will be covering various topics related to the hiring process such as: wardrobe and presentation; resumes and references; employment applications and online assessments; how to handle difficult questions and interview well; and the mass hiring protocol.

The two-hour interactive training will be held on Saturday, July 13 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., at the Albert H. DeWitt Officers’ Club, 641 West Red Line Avenue, at Alameda Point.

Space is limited and registration is required at targetalameda.eventbrite.com or by calling 510-747-4344.

The new Target store will create 200-300 jobs, from entry level positions to higher level supervisorial and managerial opportunities. Residents interested in part-time and flexible hours, including weekends and evening, are encouraged to attend the training.

“Economic development is more than bricks and mortar, it’s also an opportunity for residents to benefit directly by effectively competing for jobs that new businesses bring to the community,” said Debbie Potter, the City’s interim Community Development Director.
