Safeway May Build Store at Alameda Landing

A request to approve the addition of a Safeway supermarket and gas station to the development under construction in the West End goes before the Alameda City Council on April 16.

A Safeway supermarket and gas station could become part of the mix at the Alameda Landing development near the Webster Street Tube, according to an article today on The Alamedan website.

Safeway has signed a letter of intent to build a large "lifestyle" market and service station at the shopping center, where a Target store is currently under construction, the article says.

The addition of a supermarket to the center would require approval from the Alameda City Council, which will consider a request from the project developer, Catellus, on April 16.
