Sprouts & Shutters: New Bagel Shop in Alameda

Levy's Bagels & Co. finally opened last week

A new bagel shop is now open in town.

Levy's Bagels & Co. began serving customers last week.

It's located at 730 Atlantic Ave. between Webster Street and Appezzato Memorial Parkway.

The bagel shop was originally scheduled to open in August in the Webster Square Shopping Center. That was delayed until mid-November and then postponed again until this month.

The bagels there were quite good. Rumor has it they actually boil them. Being from the East Coast we are always looking for the 'perfect NY Bagel'. I tend to doubt that these are even found in NY these days. But these were the best I have found around the East Bay in quite a long time.

Have you tried House of Bagels on Park st? They boil the bagels too and are really good. Closest thing to NY bagels. I will have to try this place out sometime soon when i'm on that side of Webster.

Hooray! We've been waiting for this to open. I've been craving a good bagel, and the island doesn't have much to offer in that regard.

Thank God the westside finally has a real bagel place. Speaking as an actual eastcoaster, these taste like the real thing.
