Wescafe Creamery Opens with a Flourish on Webster Street

Wescafe Creamery — the new dessert addition to Webster Street's Wescafe — celebrated its grand opening Friday with balloons, free face painting and plenty of customers to sample the super-rich ice cream in cones, bowls, banana splits and shakes.

The ice cream parlor is being managed by Vanelly Trejo, daughter of Wescafe's owners Monica and Miguel Trejo.

The creamery features Lappert's Ice Cream, a premium, high-butterfat brand, along with cookies and coffee, said Monica Trejo. Yogurt and low-fat sorbets are available too.

Wescafe Creamery is at 1536 Webster St., Alameda. Winter hours are noon to 8 p.m. You can see learn more (and see more photos of the grand opening) on the Creamery's Facebook page.
