How will the money be used?
The money would be used to improve the appearance of the school with new exterior paint and landscaping that includes drought resistant plants. Currently, the school is shabby, the grounds are plain, and many of the recently installed plants were destroyed by vandalism. Our hope is for the students and faculty to enjoy a pleasant learning environment and to feel proud of their school. The Wood PTA would work closely with the school administration, district officials, etc. in improving the school's appearance by coordinating and volunteering the labor. The grant money would be applied toward the purchase of paint, plants, and related supplies. Ideally, the campus improvement project will begin no later than early 2013 and be completed by spring. Without the generous grant, it is unlikely there would be any school funds for the campus improvement due to budget cutbacks at the state and local level.
