Local History Buffs might want to take a look at this 1907 ad for Fruitvale (then considered a suburb of San Francisco and Oakland) on eBay. Just $5.75 (deal!), it describes the "queen city" of the Bay Area, one that boasts a "delightful" climate and "magnificent" schools, a place where a "tired toiler" can rest his weary bones and his wife and kids can live protected from "congested" city life.
