Patch editor Eve Pearlman challenged me this week to find Alameda deals via Facebook and I have to say, I so met that challenge. Here's what I found:
Fruits and Chocolate in Alameda Towne Centre (which within days will be ) is offering slices of Red Velvet Cake for $2 (normal price is $3). Sale will last a few weeks — or until all the slices are gone.
Whiskey on a Stick: Remember that DIY item on making your own popsicles? Here's one I wouldn't try at home: Whiskey Pops, made by Gelateria Naia with St. George Spirits's Single Malt Whiskey. Price is $1.99 a pop, which, yes, is more expensive than what I make, but these frozen pops are probably a heck of a lot better, too — I mean, at least for grown-ups. Available at Whole Foods.
is offering a $25 gift card to the person who can come up with the catchiest tagline for the restaurant. Enter on their Facebook page and do it now ... so far there are only two comments, which mean the odds of winning are high!
is offering 15 percent off Rescue Remedy (a Bach flower remedy), which is really good for calming nervous pets (think fireworks). Discount good through July 4. Rescue Remedy is good for stressed humans, too, by the way.
Alameda County Fair has deals, deals, deals on admission — if you go the right days. Check out their Facebook page to find the right dates for Free Fridays, $3 Wacky Wednesdays, Military Appreciation Day, and Senior Thursdays. While you're there, check out the fried butter, the idea of which has been making me queasy ever since Patch editor Tanya Rose mentioned it .
I'm thinking Eve owes me a Whiskey Pop for finding all these ... or at least a slice of red velvet cake. Cough, cough.
