BART Seat Lab Traveling to Fruitvale Station First
The lab will be at the Fruitvale on Sunday for people to test out the options for new seats in BART's new cars
BART will take to Oakland this weekend for the first in a series of stops to get public input on its new fleet of transit cars.
The lab will be set up at the Fruitvale station from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Sunday.
The mobile lab will travel to eight other sites over the next couple months. Each of the transit agency's nine districts will be included in the tour.

BART has not released the dates and sites for the remaining stops.
People will be able to test seats of varying heights, widths, materials and leg room.

BART will use the input to help design a new fleet of transit cars, scheduled to start hitting the tracks in 2016.
BART is expected to award the $3.4 billion contract for up to 1,000 cars later this year.
Patch readers have pointed out the contract averages out to $3.4 million per car.
Patch has contacted BART officials three times for an explanation of those figures, but as of Wednesday afternoon those voice mails and email messages have not been returned.
