Ferry Schedules Expanded for Big San Francisco Weekend

Music, baseball, sailing races and the Blue Angels are all happening this weekend in San Francisco. Extra ferries are running from Alameda's Main Street Terminal.

San Francisco Bay Ferry will more than triple its normal weekend capacity between the East Bay and San Francisco this weekend October 6 & 7, 2012. The extra service is needed because of the confluence of events in and around San Francisco this weekend.

Tens of thousands of people are expected to converge on San Francisco over an unprecedented weekend of concurrent special events including Fleet Week, America’s Cup trials, Giants’ playoffs, 49ers football, Castro Street Fair and the Hardly Strictly Bluegrass Festival, among others. San Francisco Bay Ferry is ramping up to serve passengers during what could be one of the City’s busiest and most traffic congested weekends of the year.

East Bay residents can take advantage of ferries on the Alameda-Oakland- San Francisco route running every 30-45 minutes beginning at 9 a.m. at the Main Street Terminal in Alameda. The last ferry from San Francisco to the East Bay will depart the Ferry Building at 10:45 p.m.
