Northbound 880 Blocked After Tanker Crash

California Highway Patrol says no word yet on when lanes might reopen.

A tanker truck carrying 1,000 gallons of fuel crashed on Interstate Highway 880 in Oakland this afternoon and has blocked multiple lanes of traffic, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The crash happened at about 12:45 p.m. and blocked the three left lanes of northbound traffic on I-880 near 23rd Avenue, CHP Officer Kevin Bartlett said.

A SIG-Alert was issued about 1 p.m. with no estimate on when the lanes would be reopened.

Bartlett could not comment on the extent of the truck driver's injuries, but he said an ambulance was called.

No other injuries were reported.
