Reader's Photo: Black-Crowned Night Heron

Alameda Patch reader Margaret Smeaton sent over these pictures of a black-crowned night heron that she saw outside her Otis Drive house over the weekend.
"Loved the picture of the ," she wrote. "I live on Otis Drive along the lagoon and today when I went to water my plants on the deck there was a beautiful black-crowned night heron perched on my railing.
"The lagoons are alive with birds this time of year," she wrote. "And I feel so fortunate to see this magnificent bird."
