Register Now: Alameda Elks 9/11 Blood Drive

Next month the Alameda Elks will host a blood drive. Register online to reserve a time. All donors get half off at the Elks' monthly breakfast buffet, a $5 dollar savings.

Next month the will host their twice-yearly blood drive.

Donors can give at the lodge (2255 Santa Clara Ave.) between 9 a.m. and 2 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 11.

“Our goal is to collect 75 pints during the Patriot’s Day Blood Drive," said drive chair Ted Hommert.

Co-sponsored by Blood Centers of the Pacific, the drive is being held in conjunction with the lodge’s monthly breakfast.

“We are encouraging all veterans, family of veterans, fire and police department personnel and their families to participate," said Rich Ghera, past Alameda Elks president and current veterans' committee chair.

Blood donors are encouraged to register online at www.bloodheroes.com. Click on the "donate blood" tab and type “alamedaelks” in the sponsor code box. Then select "location" and then schedule an appointment time. All donors will also receive half off the price of the Elks all-you-can-eat breakfast buffet, ordinarily $10 dollars. 

Blood Centers of the Pacific supplies blood to more than 40 hospitals in the Bay Area and is the sole supplier to Children’s Oakland Hospital.
